Jetty Park

Just north of the City of Cape Canaveral is Port Canaveral. Port Canaveral is major port for the cruise ship industry.

At the tip of Port Canaveral, the entrance to the port, is Jetty Park.  The park is so named because of the jetty that extends out into the ocean providing protection for the port entrance.
Jetty Park

The park itself has a number of features as you can see from the above photo and the diagram below.

Jetty Park Map

Jetty Park Campground
One of the main features of the park is the campground. It has areas designed for recreational vehicles with electric, water and sewage hookups. Another area is set aside for the more rugged tent camping.  Recently they installed some cabins that can be rented if you don't have a tent or rv.

Jetty Park is a great place to camp having available all the amenities of this park including the beach, fishing pier, and waterway.

You can even camp right on the waterway, although hookups are limited on these sites.

The Jetty Park Fishing Pier and Beach
The park has fishing pier that runs parallel to the waterway entrance to the Port Canaveral harbor.  The is south of the fishing pier and is staffed with life guards.

Waterway Traffic
The park is situated at the entrance to Port Canaveral, which has the second largest volume of cruise ship traffic in the country.  In addition to the cruise ships there is an active shrimp boat fleet, a nuclear submarine base and a vast array of private boating traffic including a gambling ship.

I enjoy going to the park and just sitting along the waterway and watching the traffic in and out of the port.

Jetty Park Facilities
The park's main building houses a small store with food, beach supplies and bait.  It also has changing rooms for the beach, restrooms and a small dining area.

In addition to the main building, the campground has building which houses a small store with camping supplies and the registration office.

Next time you're in the Port Canaveral, Cocoa Beach area I encourage you to visit Jetty Park.  You won't be disappointed.
